About Us

Clive Downhill, Managing Director of CP Steel Processing Ltd started his career in the steel stockholding industry in 1972.  In 2003 Clive established C P Steel Processing Ltd based in Watlington, Oxfordshire.  During this period the company thrived and ultimately relocated in 2014 to a larger site in Culham, Oxfordshire.  This site has over 40,000sq foot of warehousing. Clive then embarked on a major capital investment programme to include new innovative machinery and technology.  This together with our professional and personal approach to all, ensures that we remain a leading Steel Stockholder of choice within our industry.

Our Location

We are fortunate enough to be based at a location steeped in naval history. The same hangers we use to store our steel today actually date back to the site’s original use in 1944 as an Aircraft Receipt and Despatch Unit for the Royal Naval Air Station; HMS Hornbill. Initially HMS Hornbill was used to train reservists using aircraft such as Supermarine Seafires, Hawker Sea Furys and North American Harvards. In May 1947 the Photographic Trials and Development Unit was based here, and in 1951 1840 Naval Air Squadron also operated from the airfield. Ab initio flight training of cadets from Britannia Royal Naval College, was also undertaken here in the early 1950s.
The airfield closed on 30 September 1953 and was used as a storage facility until 1960.
